There are three kinds of people in Southern California: the people who enjoy slow, relaxing days on a day off, people who tend to prefer luxurious escapes and possibly a drink, and those who almost never relax at all.
So, if you’re the first kind of person, you may or may not enjoy these recommendations. Check them out and find out:
- Oceanside Beach (or any beach like it): Featuring a great downtown area with less people than the average California beach.
- Resorts: Stay or visit one of the many amazing resorts this state has to offer. Did you know you can reserve a cabana without booking a room using ResortPass?
- Theaters: Gone are the days where movies were just for family bonding. Now, you can watch a new film in 3D (or even 4D), with alcoholic drinks, with a full meal brought to you, in a large comfortable seat or even in your car.
- Comedy: What’s more relaxing than sitting and listening to a comedic performance at the Improv or the Laugh Factory with a drink and appetizer? Guess it just depends on what kind of person you are.
- Lake Arrowhead Communities: If you don’t mind a winding scenic road up a mountain, there’s something beautifully quaint about Lake Arrowhead and its neighbors. It’s not just the nature and lake itself. It’s the architecture, the lifestyle, the small and lovely businesses, the way everywhere feels like you’ve stepped into a movie scene.
If you consider yourself fancy, consider these, if you haven’t already:
- Rancho Palos Verdes: Here, the locals call it PV, and it boasts some of the highest incomes in the country, so naturally, it has some luxurious things to enjoy like Terranea Resort, Del Cerro Park, South Coast Botanic Garden, all of which come with unique scenic views.
- Palm Springs: Known for its culture, history of celebrities, desert oasis and more, Palm Springs and its neighboring cities have a lot to offer, if you can deal with the dry heat. Try the aerial tramway (unless you have a fear of heights), Palm Canyon Dr featuring tons of fun especially on Thursday nights, and a celebrity tour to really get to know Palm Springs.
- Dos Lagos: The shops at Dos Lagos in Riverside County are truly a hidden gem in the Inland Empire. If you enjoy a peaceful, modern setting surrounded by a bit of natural beauty, you may enjoy it.
- Victoria Gardens: Rancho Cucamonga is known to be one of the best places to live in the Inland Empire in terms of location, food, class and homes. Victoria Gardens is its 147 acre outdoor center with plenty of things to plan your day around. It even has some uniquely fun things to enjoy like Immersive Gamebox.
- Irvine Spectrum Center: Orange County, while small, is famous for its fashion, arts, film, locations and luxury. Irvine is one of the most popular destinations in Southern California. It even has a Ferris wheel. If that doesn’t intrigue you, it’s almost guaranteed something there will.
And when you just don’t feel like relaxing conventionally is doing it for you, maybe try something new? Different strokes for different folks.
